The Ride Home
V-twin roaring, as you give it a twist Wind rushing past you like something you’ve missed Your steel horse is running and setting her pace Taking you away from the everyday rat race The freedom you feel with the sun on your skin Oh yeah, you’re back tearing down the biways again Leaning in the curve and stretching out the straightaway It makes you forget a long hard day Just get on your horse and turn it into the sun What a way to get home when your day is all done. That’s Me The wind and the sun and the fields and the trees The switchback and straightaways, I’d miss all of these If it weren’t for my bike it just wouldn’t be the same The urge to ride is one I never want to tame It flows from your heart and deep in your soul If it doesn’t come from there, you can never know The true meaning of “biker” and being one with your ride And saying that’s you, with a glowing pride David Wilhelm 10/10/2005
