What a Soldier Mourns
When a silent tear Hits a calm still pond The waves of sorrow go on and on
We’ve done our duty For that one just cause Sometimes the price of freedom Makes us take pause.
To protect our house our family and home On far away battlefields Our fallen heroes roam
To ensure one noble and God given task A favor no one could possibly ask No fear, no hate, no fallen kin To always see our loved ones again
We are soldiers A few men who answered the call You sleep safe at night because we stand on a wall
You might not agree You might not concur But your right to say it Is why we stand firm
We love our country Its right, and its wrong But WE get to decide Not a man on a throne
We fight for your right To say what you will But that price is high And some will get killed
Our young men go forth And protect what they love Don’t turn your back Or blame powers above
We are one nation Stand firm and true To those young men Away, dying for you
We don’t ask for money We don’t ask for fame But when we come home Just treat us the same
We went out and met What you didn’t see The hate and the horror That you didn’t need
Some of us are done And memories remain Of our lost friends And promises made
Never forget Is our given pact Our loved ones are free It was worth every act
